Dhruv And Mom
Dhruv and Mom
A special child is a blessing in a parents' life but it takes time to
realise that and keep remembering that.
Many a time it seems a burden too heavy for the mother, but then
when she sees the positive happy soul, inside the special body, she remembers,
and is grateful.
Dhruv is one such a blessing. He loves to sing when he is alone, play
with his toys, tease his Mom, play with his pet dog, cycle, watch his favourite
you-tube channels and when he sees paints, he itches for working with them on
large canvases. The colours, so exuberant, dance with joy in his hands.
So one day the Mom decided to become part of this merriment and try some
of her ideas on his canvases.
This is the result of that collaboration.
Dhruv has severe anxiety issues so his absence here must be understood.
He knows we love and celebrate him. And he will ask us what others
thought of the exhibition too.
Happy 19th Birthday Dhruv!
Love,
Mom, Dad and Sis.

Exhibition in an Art Mela
We had an interesting exhibition 2019 Jan, an solo show for the first time in an Art Mela at Chennai.
When a viewer remarked-'these are just scribbles' an unknown professional artist came up in support and said making these attractive 'scribbles' is not easy!

Exhibitions and more exposure
Kairasii - a group that supports art from the differently abled conducted its first group show at 'Swiss Hutte' and Dhruv 's art found space and exposure.
Kairasii had an event on Autism day in 2017 at a mall and Dhruv's painting got sold, much to our amazement.
Then in July 2018 Kairasii had another show this time in Amethyst, Chennai.
The yellow painting got sold and found its place in someone's living room.
Kairasssi had made prints also, which were runaway hits.
Kairassi has been a source of continued support to Dhruv's journey and we are grateful to Indira, Kadambari and Divya for their generous work.
Dhruv, our Miracle
Dhruv, Our miracle.
‘Not in matter, but in thought, not in possessions but in ideas, are to be found the seeds of immortality’. Sir JC Bose.
Dhruv, is an idea, the idea that a child must be listened to. When he was fourteen, he expressed unequivocally that he had no interest in going to the special school, he went to for the previous three years. It was a decision thrust on us, by him, to start some kind of home-schooling. Which in a year’s time dwindled to ‘no-schooling’, or a more attractive word ’unschooling’. But the net result was a teenager who was surfing the net for all his needs and seemed to be really happy!
It was at a time like this, trying to get Dhruv
interested in art, that we had our
first teacher, Augustine Thilak, who came in only for about six times, but gave
the boy the freedom to explore paints, the way he wants.
Later in 2016 he was instructed in this 'uninstructed' art by Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Jyotsana Srinivasan.
Time passed and, and time is
the best teacher. I learnt that Dhruv’s compositions had great beauty, I had to
develop a sense of art, that was open to this freedom. The idea of expressing
one’s feelings though colour and movement.
About this time we started framing his works, putting them online and
friends started wanting to procure them.
One of our early buyers was Dr Paulose Thomas who later hung the art in his hospital in Kerala.
Dr Paulose thought the work should be titled 'Cosmogenesis'
Mr Shanker bought this set of four for his home.
We tried collage art.
And digital art!
Art with sand...
Art using spray paint..
Art on Canvas- this is his first canvas work which he called 'Forest'.
Most of his works have been sold to friends, who may have bought them to support him or maybe liked the art. This question doesn't bother Dhruv cause all he wants to do is paint!
He introduces himself to others as an 'Artist'.
